Oh, so beautiful!

I just love hearing Hannah talk. Everyday she surprises me with new words and phrases. Her concept of life and things around us amaze me! Just today she amazed me even more. I broke the latch on my vacuum cleaner and had to have it fixed. I went to pick it up today and as the lady brought it out she said they cleaned it up a bit for me. (I guess it was pretty dirty.) Hannah was with me and right after the lady said that, Hannah said "Oh it's so beautiful. It's pretty Mama." The lady and I just died laughing. Hannah was so serious. She then proceeded to talk and make friends with the vacuum. I guess she forgot that it was ours since we have been without for 2 weeks now. (Thankfully I have been using my parent's who live down the street!)

Another time today we were in the car and Hannah started to sign along with her Bible Songs CD. She asks every time we get into a car that we play her music. For the first time she sang out loud with it. She wasn't exact on the words, but she was close enough. I just loved it. I also sang along with her and she didn't ask me to stop this time. It was so much fun. She is getting so big!

Where does she get it from?

The other night we were watching TV. It was getting close to Hannah's bed time and she thought she would start a new game. She took all the DVDs out of the entertainment center and perfectly stacked them in a tower (PERFECTLY) and then proceeded to lay them out in a pattern. Even though it became her bed time, we let her continue to see how far she would go. She ended up with about 30 DVDs (most of what we have) before we made her stop and pick them up. Both DJ and I are OCD and I wonder if she is going to be somewhat the same. They say your kids will become you as they get older and wiser. I hope she is not as OCD as I am! Updates...

First, the birds are gone! We had baby birds in a nest on our front door wreath. Well, they are gone and boy did they leave a mess! I had a hard time cleaning off their left overs! There is still some stuff I can't get off completely. I will have to work on it some more. Also, the Easter wreath the parents built the nest in was completely destroyed from the babies and their left overs. So that was put in the trash. This was the first year I got to use it. It was left up there from February to just last week. I guess I got my money worth. I am just said that I cant use it next year. I don't think I will be putting up a wreath next spring time.

Second, the para sailing photos are recovered. A previous post explained how I thought the airport security ruined my photos from a para sailing trip in the Bahamas. Well, the photo technician from DJ's work was able to work and change some things around and recovered most of the pictures. They are blurry and discolored. You can still make out the image, which is a good thing. We were so excited to see them turn out even a little bit. So, I will not be able to post them due to their deterioration. But if you want to see them, just ask.

Garden Work

This Memorial Day weekend we worked in our flower beds in the front of our house. The one in front of Hannah's room was uneven. The mulch and dirt would wash away every time it rained. So we decided that we would level it out ourselves and save some money. Really, how hard could it be! Well, we found out that it is a lot more work than you would think! We had to build up one side with retaining bricks, add top soil to level out the shrubs, and we add flowers and mulch to both beds. Here are the before and after pictures of the one side we leveled.

New Look

OK, so everyone is going short. Hair that is! I have been wanting for a long time to cut my hair. I guess DJ's desire for long hair has been keeping me from doing it. And the fact that I said I would never cut it short again. However, since Hannah was born, I have had an unwavering desire to cut it short. So, I finally got the nerve up and cut it short, twice. The first time it was not doing what I had wanted. So, going back for the third time, (the second time to get bangs shorter and thinned)the stylist decided the first haircut was not done correctly. So, we had to go shorter. Poor DJ, he is having to deal with it being so short to begin with, but then having to go shorter. He has been a good sport though. He said it looked good. WOW! Anyway, I am starting to like it. It has been a shock, but I am coming around. Here is a pic, but you will have to excuse the no make up and flat hair. I have been working in the yard today, so not much was done to make me up!

Airport security: The Good, The Bad, The Destroyed

When DJ and I went para sailing, we took a water camera with us to catch the amazing views. I also took some fun pictures of us while we were swimming in the ocean. Needless to say, we were looking forward to the beautiful pictures. Since DJ's work has a photo shop, I asked him to take the camera to get it developed while he was at work...

Pause. Lets back up the story a little bit. The last night of the cruise you must pack your suitcases and pass them to the crew to store for departure the next morning. I was feeling rushed packing everything and making sure it would all fit. I also had to leave all our shampoos and such in our carry on. Which I didn't want to do for the airport. So I was all worried about that and getting everything back in the suitcases and which stuff I wanted to carry on the flight with us and what needed to be checked. Crazy!

OK, back to the photos... DJ took the camera like I asked and had it developed. The tech developed them only to find there was NO PICTURES on the camera. WHAT??? I must have packed the water camera in the checked luggage. The photo tech seems to think that there were no photos because it went through x-ray checkpoints that were not safe for photos. AAAAHHH! I was so careful to make sure everything was in its right place, but the camera. All our photos destroyed by THE AIRPORT SECURITY! Who is to blame: airport security or just silly me? We still have our digital camera photos, but most of the good ones where on the water camera. :( And what stinks even more is that we had to buy that camera from the island shops and it was not cheap! Oh well, lesson learned for the next time!
